NI NENGAH WIDIASIH KANTONGI MEDALI PERTAMA PARALYMPIC TOKYO 2020 UNTUK INDONESIA

Tokyo, Japan – Atlet Angkat Berat, Ni Nengah Widiasih atau yang akrab disapa Widi berhasil mengantongi Medali Perak pertama untuk Indonesia pada perhelatan Paralympic Tokyo 2020  yang dilaksanakan di Tokyo International Forum pada Kamis, 26 Agustus 2021.

Medali perak ini bukan hanya merupakan medali pertama bagi Indonesia pada perhelatan kali ini, tetapi juga merupakan medali silver pertama sejak Paralympic Seoul tahun 1988 lalu.

Sementara itu pada posisi pertama, atlet Cina, Guo Ling Ling berhasil memecahkan rekor dunia dengan angkatan 109 kilogram (kg), serta peraih medali perunggu, Calara Sarahy Muasterio dari Venezuela yang berhasil dengan angkatan 97 kilogram (kg).

Widi sendiri sebelumnya berhasil mengamankan angkatan 96 kilogram (kg) pada percobaan pertamanya  namun kemudian gagal mengangkat berat 98 kilogram (kg) pada percobaan keduanya. Tetapi, Ia berhasil membuktikan dengan meraih angkatan 98 kilogram (kg) pada percobaan terakhirnya yang juga berhasil mengantarkannya pada posisi kedua di pertandngan kelas 41-kg ini.

Pada Paralympics sebelumnya di Rio 2016, Ni Nengah Widiasih pun telah berhasil meraih peringkat ketiga dengan angkatan 95 kilogram (kg) dan menyumbangkan Medali Perunggu kepada Indonesia 5 tahun lalu. Lifter yang menduduki Ranking Ke-2 Dunia itu mengatakan kepada TVRI bahwa seluruh tim mengekspektasikan dirinya hanya menduduki posisi perunggu tetapi dengan keberhasilannya dalam meraih hasil tinggi pada Kualifikasi bulan lalu di Dubai, rasa percaya diri dan usaha kerasnya mendorong dirinya memasang target pribadi untuk meraih perak dan berhasil mendapatkannya.

“Senang dan bangga sekali karena sesuai dengan target pribadi. Sebelum ke sini, saya ada di ranking dua dunia,” ucap Ni Nengah Widiasih kepada NPC Indonesia seperti dikutip dari Kompas.com. “Di Brazil, saya meraih perunggu dan sekarang membawa pulang Perak. Tahun depan semoga bisa tampil lebih di ASEAN Para Games dan Asian Para Games,” tambah Atlet kelahiran 1992 itu.

Terakhir ia berterima kasih kepada seluruh masyarakat Indonesia atas dukungan yang diberikan. “Semoga medali saya ini bisa menjadi motivasi teman-teman lainnya yang akan beranding,” pesannya, “Semoga Merah Putih berkibar sebanyak-banyaknya di Tokyo.”

Selain itu, Paralympic Tokyo 2020 resmi digelar mulai Rabu lalu, 24 Agustus 2021. Perhelatan olahraga ini akan diselenggarakan selama kurang lebih dua pekan hingga 5 September 2021 nanti. Indonesia sendiri mengirimkan 14 kontingen pria dan 9 kontingen wanita yang akan bertanding pada 7 cabang olahraga yang  terdapat pada Paralympic 2020 ini. Seperti Para Weighlifting, Para Table Tennis, dan terbanyak pada cabang olahraga Badminton dan Atletik dengan masing-masing mengirimkan 7 Kontingen Atlet seperti dikutip dari Antara News. (CRH)
